In 2016, AppTV broadened the scope of its viewing audience by expanding programming to SkyBest subscribers in Ashe and Alleghany counties in North Carolina, as well as Johnson County in Tennessee. To celebrate this milestone, the channel produced the AppTV Comes to Skybest special program featuring the documentary Land Sustains Us: A Todd Story. The documentary touches on how housing and building developments affect the sense of community in the village of Todd and other surrounding areas in the High Country. Martha Enzmann directed the documentary in collaboration with videographer Suzanne Clouzeau and interviewer James Lewis. The program's host, Dr. Patricia Beaver, a retired professor of Appalachian Studies, and her guests from Todd discussed the issues addressed in the documentary and the relationship of our communities with the land. This special program is now available in our archives.
