Join us as we celebrate 10 years of AppTV! Launched on May 26, 2015, AppTV is Appalachian State University’s student-staffed television service. The channel is an activity of Appalachian’s Department of Communication in the College of Fine and Applied Arts. AppTV serves the department, campus and the community through development of original programming and promotion of relevant events. Check out some of the programming through years!

Original Seven Programs

Religion in Life is one of two shows that have run for the entirety of AppTV's existence. Dr. Ozzie Ostwalt has served as the host for all 10 years, and over 200 episodes. Religion in Life is a multi-award-winning program featuring discussions about religion, philosophy, and spirituality and interviews with a wide variety of guests including App State professors, students, and members of the Boone community.

Business Matters premiered on June 3, 2015. It was hosted by Dr. Heather Norris when she was the Dean of the Walker School of Business. Episodes address business trends and tips on how to become more financially savvy.

Age Wise was the very first show AppTV aired, premiering on May 26, 2015. Originally hosted by Dr. Ed Rosenberg in the sociology department. Age Wise was created to help guide people through aging  gracefully, happily, and healthy.

The Media was hosted by AppTV's own founder Michael Fields, and featured panel discussions with various professors and employees of the communication department. Panelists will discuss topics such as the media’s role in what is obligatory for the public to know.

Sports Bar (rebranded as The A Game), is one of two shows that have run for the entirety of AppTV's 10 years. Originally hosted by Sam Smith and David Jackson, the Sports Bar featured panel discussions about weekly sports topics.

Health Talk premiered on May 27, 2015, hosted by Dr. Jay Noren. Episodes addresses the topics of health and wellness, such as food safety, orthopedics, and more, in order to help people take care of their bodies.

Hosted by Dr. Jim Barnes, The Academics was a panel discussion with faculty at Appalachian State University. They cover the hot topics of the day, including gun regulation on college campuses, upcoming presidential elections, and US trade policies.
