Launched on May 26, 2015, AppTV is Appalachian State University’s student-staffed television service. The channel is an activity of Appalachian’s Department of Communication in the College of Fine and Applied Arts. AppTV serves the department, campus and the community through development of original programming and promotion of relevant events. Our programming seeks to display the highest standards of creativity and professionalism.

We strive to provide a forum for community organizations and present the broadest range of ideas and issues to its viewers. AppTV is an HD TV channel that is available on cable, online, and through on-demand streaming.  Its original and acquired programming are telecast on SkyBest Channels 20 (standard definition) and 1020 (high definition) in Ashe, Alleghany, Avery and Watauga counties, North Carolina, and in Shady Valley, Tennessee.

It is also available on Charter/Spectrum Channel 198 in Watauga and Avery counties, North Carolina, and Johnson County, Tennessee; and Channel 23.3 on App State’s campus. Its programs are streamed on watchapptv.com where it is viewable anywhere in the world, making AppTV an important outlet for sharing Appalachian’s story with an international audience.
